SILVER CROSS FIELD A TO Z
Administrative Office – If you need to take care of any business issues with a member of the JackHammers Front Office Staff, you can do so in the Administrative Office. Open from 8:30a-5:30p, the office can be found on Mayor Art Schultz Drive, just to the left of the Box Office windows.
ATI Information Booth – Located down the 1st base line behind section 105, the ATI Information Booth has all the answers regarding Silver Cross Field. Drop off your group raffle tickets, pick up your game day stat packs and programs, and sign up to be the guest announcer. This is also where you’ll find the ATM.
Berms – The Tru-Green Chemlawn grassy berms are located down each foul line of the ballpark and offer general admission lawn seating for just $5! Bring a blanket (no chairs please!) and enjoy the action from the grass. Be sure to bring your glove and keep your eye on the game as the berms are a magnet for foul balls.
Box Office – The Box Office can be found just to the left of the Main Gates. Open from 9a-5p on non-game days and 9a until the 7th inning on game days, the Box Office is your one-stop-shop for all your ticketing needs or questions.
Concessions – You’ll find all your ballpark favorites here at Silver Cross Field at good prices and close to your seats. Visit the “Firehouse Grill,” “Stone City Grill,” “Guinness Pub,” “Jammer’s Backyard Barbeque,” and many more!
DesRochers Spa & Party Patio – Want to take a nice relaxing soak at the ballpark? Sure, we won’t mind. Book a group outing in the spa and patio area, located in the right field corner just above the JackHammers bullpen. Perfect for bachelor parties, family get-togethers, or birthday parties, bring your bathing suit and baseball glove, and you’ll be all set. To book, call the JackHammers’ Ticket Department at 815.726.2255.
Elevator – The elevator can be found just inside the Main Gates on the first level of the ballpark and directly behind home plate on the concourse level. It can also take you to the Suite Level, but be sure you have a Suite Level ticket.
First Midwest Bank Speed of Pitch – Want to know how fast that fastball really was or how much the pitcher is taking off his changeup? Look just beyond the right centerfield wall to find out on the First Midwest Bank Speed of Pitch sign.
Gates – Silver Cross Field has three gates to enter the ballpark: The Main Gate at the corner of Jefferson Street and Mayor Art Schultz Drive, the West Gate on Mayor Art Schultz Drive and Van Buren Avenue, and the South Gate on Jefferson Street. Both the Main and West Gates open one hour prior to game time, while the South Gate opens up an hour and fifteen minutes before each game for season ticket holders.
Holy Half Price Mondays – Join us every Monday home game for this special night where church groups of 20 or more receive half price tickets. The evening features a pre-game devotional speaker and Christian music throughout the game. Group tickets can be booked by calling the JackHammers Ticket Department at 815.726.2255.
Independent League – Many fans ask what Major League team the JackHammers are affiliated with, but we are an Independent League team. More specifically, the JackHammers are a member of the Northern League of Professional Baseball. There are seven other Independent Leagues throughout the United States.
Jammer’s Backyard Barbeque – If you’re looking for a hot-off-the-grill, home-style barbeque experience, Jammer’s Backyard BBQ is just the spot. For less than $9 a plate, the meal offers a main dish with several sides. The BBQ is down the right field line, just before the South Gate entrance.
Kid’s Zone – If you’re looking for a place the kids can have some fun before or during the game, head out to the Kid’s Zone. Follow the sidewalk to left centerfield next to the outfield concession stand and there you’ll find the inflatables. For just $1 a ticket, the kids can jump in the Bounce House, see how fast they can throw, and work on their hitting skills.
Left Field Louie – An unofficial mascot of the JackHammers, Left Field Louie can be seen from anywhere in the park. Located in the spot of his name sake, Louie is a converted “Muffler Man.” The “Muffler Men” were fiberglass statues made in the 1960’s and 1970’s and used primarily for advertising along the side of the road. Each time the JackHammers score a run, flashing lights and smoke emit from Louie’s base. A picture with Left Field Louie is a must for anyone that comes to Silver Cross Field.
Louie’s Pad Rooftop – The Rooftop is another unique experience Silver Cross Field has to offer. Located atop the left field concession stand next to Louie, fans can get a one-of-a-kind viewing experience. Groups of 20 or more can book the Rooftop for a Wrigley Field feel at Minor League prices by contacting the JackHammers Ticket Department at 815.726.2255.
Miracle League of Joliet – This special rubberized baseball field opened in the spring of 2008 and is designed for children and young adults with physical and mental disabilities to come and play baseball. The field can be found just beyond the JackHammers’ center field wall and is the first field of its kind located inside the walls of a professional baseball stadium. For more information on the Miracle League, visit http://www.miracleleagueofjoliet.com/.
Misting Station – Looking for a way to cool down on those hot summer days at the park? Take a stroll through the JackHammers’ Misting Station. The station sits atop the left field berm and drops a constant mist of water on those who wish to walk through.
Noon Whistle – A new feature this season at Silver Cross Field is the “Noon Whistle.” Every day at 12:00pm, “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” can be heard streaming from the speakers at the park. It helps to keep baseball on people’s minds, especially during the off season….and it helps people remember that it’s lunchtime!
Outfield – Silver Cross Field is nestled in the heart of downtown Joliet and the buildings beyond the outfield walls of the park add to its ambiance. Some of Joliet’s finest spend much of their time just beyond left field – at Fire Station One to be exact. As a big white sign indicates, the station is 560 feet from home plate, a distance to which no player has hit a home run…yet! Just down the street directly behind the scoreboard is an apartment building that was used to film a scene from 2009’s “Public Enemies” starring Johnny Depp. In the distant beyond right field stands Joliet Central High School. Built in 1901, the building is known partly for its architectural structure and resemblance to a castle. Back inside the walls, fans are able to walk the entire perimeter of the park and can view the game action from nearly every outfield angle.
Parking – Convenient parking is located throughout the downtown area and best of all, it’s FREE! There are three parking garages within walking distance of Silver Cross Field, as well as parking lots near the train station and courthouse. Street parking is also free.
ProShop – Whether you’re looking for memorabilia to mark your first JackHammers’ game or you’re an avid fan wanting to add to your collection, the JackHammers’ ProShop is the place to go. Located on the 1st base side to the right of the main stairs, the ProShop is open from the time the gates open to when they close. A merchandise kiosk can also be found down the 3rd base line behind section 114.
Quarters – Minted in 1792, this form of currency, made of copper and nickel, can be used anywhere at Silver Cross Field.
Reading Club Nights – Ever run the bases on a professional baseball field? Tuesday and Wednesday are the nights to bring the kids to Silver Cross Field. Jammer’s Book Buddies Reading Club vouchers can be redeemed any Tuesday and Wednesday during the 2010 season and all kids get to run the bases after the game!
Seating – You’ve parked the car, your ticket has been ripped, you’re up the stairs, but now where? The sections at Silver Cross Field are divided into odds and evens. Odd Sections 101-115 are on the 1st base side of the park, while the Even Sections 102-114 are on the 3rd base side.

Train Station – Silver Cross Field is located just a stone’s throw from Joliet’s Union Station. Making travel to the ballpark even easier, Union Station services both AMTRAK and METRA riders. With freight and passenger cars traveling by throughout the day, they add to the ambiance of Silver Cross Field and are a favorite of many children.

Will Call – The Will Call doors are located to the right of the Box Office windows outside of Silver Cross Field. For fans who purchase their tickets online, this is where they can be picked up prior to the game. Fans can also leave tickets for family or friends as well. Will Call is open the same hours as the Box Office, 9a-5p on non-game days and 9a until the 7th inning on game days.
WJOL – 1340AM, Will County’s News-Talk-Sports is the home for all JackHammers’ radio broadcasts. You can also listen to the games online at www.jackhammerbaseball.com.
Xanadu – I mean really, who doesn’t love Olivia Newton John?!
Youth Baseball and Softball Leagues – If your child is involved in a youth league, then be sure to bring the team out to Silver Cross Field. Whether they would like to be the “Baseball Buddies” team for the day or are doing a fundraiser, the JackHammers can help. Just call the Front Office at 815.726.2255.
